Christmas 2011

Fish and I really want our kids to understand the meaning of what Christmas is. This year was really fun we were able to explain to Bridgette what Christmas is and means to our family. We have a three gift rule in our home. We explain that Jesus received three gifts from the wise men and so do we. Jesus sends Santa to give us our three gifts to let us know how special we are just like like Jesus. The three gifts are something FUN, something they NEED and something EDUCATIONAL. They also get a stocking from mom & dad and this is special gift full of lots of little gifts because we love you and to thank you for being you and such a good kid all year. :) Fish and I stay home on Christmas. We both feel it is important to start our own traditions as a family and spend the day together. This year Bridge was so cute and really got into the spirit of Christmas. We also had Samuel this year and its always fun to have a new little for the holidays. Fish gets all of us a new ornament for our trees every year and its always fun to see what he picks out and why. We let our kids have their own trees in their rooms which is fun and we have a big family tree as well. I got a Snowman family Bridgette got a ballet dancer for starting dance and Sam got his first baby Christmas ornament which was a lamb. I always cook a big breakfast and this year we put a pot roast in the crock pot for Christmas dinner. The family parties were so fun this year. The Powell family party is always held at Lynette's house in SLC and the kids always do the nativity scene. This year Sam was the new baby Jesus and Bridge was the angle. Its a fun and crazy party and always so much FUN! The Halverson family party was held at my house. We had a pasta party and the kids were spoiled like always with tons of gifts! This year was great. Christmas for us is so much fun with the kids and we cant wait to see what comes next year!
